The Clayton Gallery and Outlaw Art Museum & The Hot Rod Tattoo Convention (2001)

Before the annual Hot Rod Tattoo Convention, Clayton Patterson (artist, photographer, videographer, activist), curates an art show dedicated to tattoo artists. Here, at The Clayton Gallery and Outlaw Art Museum, the artists get to show off more than just their tattoo work. Ron Bianco was one of the artists showcased.

Then it's off to The Hot Rod Tattoo Convention. Check out the cars, tattoos and artwork – with an emphasis on Bellmore's Lone Wolf Tattoo. Also, the band playing inside the Tattoo Convention is Slick Pelt. The lead singer is Manny Berlingo. He's the guy that Jim and I originally tried to get to edit Bellmore: The Unscene (which I wrote about here).

Jim Collette, Matt Bianco and Tammie (Cohen) Bianco also make appearances in the video.

Juke Joint 213

The greatest service done in support of Bellmore's "unscene" was when Christine Frey convinced her mom Eileen, and her mom's friend Debbie, to buy the Juke Joint bar. During the late 90's/early 00's, Juke Joint 213 (213 being the address), located in the heart of Bellmore town right next to Lone Wolf Tattoo, was the home for every Bellmore scenester and band. It was also a place of work for a few, too – Dave Jemmott, Matt Bianco and Jim Muscarella all tended bar.

When we began filming Bellmore: The Unscene, Eileen and Debbie were kind enough to let us shoot a bunch of interviews at the Juke Joint (as seen in the video above). But by this time they were looking to sell the bar – which they did about half way through our two year production. Daveman continued to work there – under new ownership – for a little while, and the Eggplant Queens played there once (which I'll get to at a later date), but the place and the vibe changed...for the worse. It's now a dance studio.

Ron Bianco - Tattoo Artist/Mayor

Meet Ron...the unofficial Mayor of Bellmore and tattoo artist at Lone Wolf Tattoo (and singer for Zombula 451˚ – but we've already covered that). Lone Wolf was established in 1995 in Bellmore by Albert Sgambati & Andrea Anderson, with the help of Ron. Over the years Ron's tattooed many of the people involved in Bellmore's "unscene". (Check out the video below.)

Tammie Comics (1997-1999?)

The "Unscene", as we all know, is very testosterone driven. Today's post is the first post about a lady. In fact, Tammie is the only female that has her own tag in the label bar of this blog. For some reason the girls of Bellmore – in this small scene at least – haven't shared their creative side with the rest of us...except Tammie. Bellmore: The Unscene touched upon this subject briefly. Here's Tammie Cohen, Deniese Kollar, Christine Stamberg, Christine Frey (sorry I spelled your name wrong in the movie Christine) and...um...Dave S with their views on a girl-less scene...



Tammie's Comics – highlighted in the clip above – ran in the Long Island Voice from 1997 to 1999 (I think those are the dates?). Each episode centered around a cartoon version of Tammie, and was full of Bellmore characters and inside jokes. The best way to describe it is to actually read it so here's a few...
